12 Gifts for Vegans and Vegetarians
Table of Contents
1. Culinary Rx Online Cooking Course by Rouxbe (Online Cooking Course)
In 2021, I took the Culinary Rx online cooking course by Rouxbe. You can read our review of the course here.
If you have a friend or family member who is looking to learn how to cook healthier plant-based recipes, this course makes a wonderful gift.
As of October 2021, the price point is an affordable $39.99 for lifetime access. That means your gift recipient can complete the course at his/her own pace and review any of the videos anytime!
2. Corkor Slim Wallet
Several years ago, Larissa purchased a wallet from Corkor and she absolutely loves it!
Since her purchase, they’ve created some new products, including this RFID safe bi-fold.
3. A Sprouting Kit
In episode 377 of The Vegetarian Zen Podcast we chatted with Doug Evans, author of The Sprout Book.
I was so inspired by our conversation and his book that I purchased my own sprouting kit so I could grow my own delicious healthy sprouts.
Not only are sprouts healthy, but growing them is a fun activity for both adults and kids!
4. A Vegetarian or Vegan Magazine Subscription
For my birthday a couple of years ago, my dad gave me a subscription to Guitar Player Magazine. Every month I receive a new magazine filled with nothing but guitars and guitar music!
Two great things about gifting a magazine subscription: a) they’re relatively inexpensive; and b) as Cousin Eddy says in Christmas Vacation, “It’s the gift that keeps on giving the whole year!”
Check out our list of Best Vegan and Vegetarian Magazines for some great ideas!
5. A Vegetarian or Vegan Cookbook
There are so many amazing plant-based cookbooks on the market that choosing one can be overwhelming! To help you take some of the guesswork out of finding a great cookbook to gift, we recently compiled a list of our community’s favorites.
Special thanks to our closed Facebook Group, The Peas and Carrots Society for their recommendations!
6. Vegancuts Subscription Box
Vegancuts is still one of the most popular vegan subscription boxes. With a variety of snack and beauty boxes available, you’re sure to find the perfect Vegancuts subscription option for that special person.
You’ll find monthly, 3-month, 6-month, or 12-month subscriptions.
- The folks at Vegancuts search every corner of the vegan world to discover the most exciting new products from new and established brands.
- Enter Coupon Code vegetarianzen for $5 off at checkout!
7. Something For their Furry Babies
I usually try and avoid buying food or treats for other people’s animals because some pets have dietary restrictions, but there are plenty of toys available for furry babies!
We recently gifted one of these Trixie Mad Scientist Puzzle toys to a friend who had just rescued two dogs. Ours love these puzzle toys!
Another recent purchase for our dogs was the Transitional Leash by Heather’s Heroes (previously K9 Lifeline). Back in episode 395 of the podcast, we interviewed Heather Beck, founder of K9 Lifeline and creator of the Transitional Leash.
We purchased the leash for our dog Ruthie, who can sometimes pull when we take her on walks. The leash is a great, humane way to help train your pup to walk with a loose leash.
You can find more of our favorite pet products here.
Give your fur-babies a mental workout!
- Flip lids using knobs.
- Slide disks to side.
- Lift up cones note that design prevents cones from being knocked over they must be lifted straight up to remove.
- Vary number and placement of treats to increase level of difficulty.
8. A Donation to An Animal Rescue
One of the best gifts for vegans, vegetarians, and really anyone who loves animals is a donation to an animal rescue in a friend or family member’s name.
Some of our favorite animal rescues are:
9. Plum Deluxe Tea
I’ve been a fan of Plum Deluxe tea for a long while. Back in episode 209 we interviewed Plum Deluxe founder Andy Hayes about his fresh, organic, fair trade tea. In our interview, we talked about how tea is not only good for the body but also for the soul.
Check out their individual teas, and also their Tea of the Month club.
Plum Deluxe teas are fresh, organic, and fair trade with no harsh chemicals and bizarre fake flavorings to provide an amazing tea experience.
10. Vegetarian and Vegan Merch
In 2020, we moved our Vegetarian Zen Swag Shop over to a website called TeePublic, due in large part to the fact that they support independent artists. We’ve added quite a few of their designs to our store, so when you purchase any merch through our store, you’re not only supporting a plant-based business (us!) but you’re also supporting independent artists.
A variety of t-shirts, hoodies, tanks, phone cases, totes, mugs, pens, and more!
11. Calm
Earlier this year, Larissa and I each purchased a 1-year subscription to Calm, an award-winning mindfulness app that’s available on IOS, Android, and desktop.
While neither of us has utilized the meditation part of the app, we both LOVE the sleep stories and music. We often use them when we take our late afternoon siesta.
You can try out the app monthly (which is what we did) or you can purchase a year. Lifetime access is also available. Check the site for current pricing.
12. Oh Comadre Candles

I can’t remember exactly how I found Oh Comadre Candles but it was several years ago and I remember what caught my attention was their fun retro look and their fun unique scents!
I’ve tried several of their candles and wax melts and love the strong but not overpowering aromas.
Made from veggie soy wax, these candles make great gifts for vegans and vegetarians, or anyone who just enjoys good smells wafting through their home!
The candle that celebrates life through a Latina’s eye. Our candles are individually and carefully hand-poured in Downey, California with veggie soy wax. When you buy an Oh Comadre Candle you are supporting a small business.
We hope that these 12 gifts for vegans and vegetarians has given you some great gift ideas for that special someone in your life!
