Who doesn’t love smoothies? Fruity, creamy, chilly deliciousness. When we purchased our Vitamix 1365 CIA Professional Series blender, we, like many other people, were thinking of having a quality machine in which to prepare healthy drinks.
We also held the mistaken belief that the Vitamix was a “juicer”, which, in fact, it is not (as we discovered, juicing and blending are two entirely different processes, each with their own benefits).
After we got our “baby” home, however, we realized what a gem we really had! Not only does the Vitamix 1365 make incredible smoothies, it also has a place in the realms of soups, desserts, quick breads, condiments and dips, and more!
The machine comes with two cookbooks chock-full of recipes in all of the above categories. So far, I’ve tried the Minestrone and the Blueberry Orange Bread. Yum and double yum!!
As with my review of the Omega VRT350 juicer, I’ve provided answers to the questions we asked when considering which blender to purchase. I hope you find this review helpful. If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment or shoot me an email via our Contact Us page.

PACKAGING AND EASE OF ASSEMBLY
Q: Was the mixer well-packed for shipping?
Q: Was it easy to unbox?
Q: Were the assembly instructions easy to read and understand?
Q: Were all parts well-labeled?
Q: Does it assemble smoothly? (nothing too tight/loose, etc)
A: Assembly consists of nothing more than placing the container on the base and attaching the vented lid plug into the lid. Ta da!! You’re ready to Vitamix!
EASE OF USE
Q: Are instructions for use easy to understand and follow?
Q: Do parts come apart easily?
A: As with assembly, disassembly consists of simply removing the container from the base and the plug from the lid. Unlike conventional blenders, the blade is a permanent fixture in the container and cannot be removed.
Q: Are there small spaces that are hard to get clean?
A: No, the container has no areas that are difficult to reach. It can be easily cleaned by adding warm water and a drop of dish soap, cover with lid and run on high speed for 30 seconds.
Q: Are the parts dishwasher-safe?
A: Vitamix does not recommend placing container, lid, lid plug or tamper (used for pushing food into the blade while in use) in the dishwasher.
QUALITY OF FOODS/BEVERAGES PRODUCED
Not only does the Vitamix 1365 make preparation of smoothies, soups, desserts and more a snap, but the end results are terrific. Provided the ingredients are placed into the container in the order specified (generally liquids and soft ingredients first to aid in blade movement, followed by more solid ingredients), the consistencies of smoothies, soups and batters are exactly what they should be. If you like a “chunkier” smoothie (with some small pieces of fruit left unblended), simply decrease blending time or add a little extra fruit through the hole in the lid right at the end of blending.
When I made blueberry orange quick bread (recipe from the cookbook included with the machine), I used the machine to blend the wet ingredients (including an entire, peeled orange!), which were then combined in a bowl with the dry ingredients and blueberries, poured in a loaf pan and baked in the oven. The bread was very moist and the flavor was great.
I also made minestrone (another Vitamix cookbook recipe), which was prepared completely in the blender. I really liked this, because there was only one cooking “dish” to wash. The soup itself was fantastic, and I felt really good about eating it, knowing that everything in it was completely natural. Additionally, the recipe made approximately six generous servings!
