Funny story: when I was researching the topic for this episode, I went out searching for information about how eating meat could make you more succeptible to seasonal allergies. I thought surely that would be true. I mean, eating meat is bad for your body in so many other ways, right? Why couldn’t it make allergies worse?
Long story short, I didn’t find what I thought I would. Processed meat, yes; but then, hot dogs and lunch meat are pumped so full of chemicals and other bad stuff, it just stands to reason, right? But meat in general, no.
So, while the answer to the question posed in the podcast title, “Can a plant-based diet help alleviate seasonal allergies?” is definitely yes, it’s not because meat makes allergies worse, but rather because there are so many properties of plants that can potentially make them better.
