Why I Stopped Being An Angry Vegan With Kate Galli

Kate Galli once took pride in being an angry vegan. She vehemently advocated for animal rights, passionately shared graphic footage of factory farming practices, and shamed anyone who dared to consume animal products. She was part of the call-out culture and felt it was her mission to awaken the world to the inherent cruelty of the meat and dairy industries.

However, as time went on she started realizing that her anger was not only exhausting but also ineffective in promoting positive change. It became clear to Kate that her approach was pushing people away rather than convincing them to adopt a vegan lifestyle. She knew there had to be a better way to advocate for a more compassionate world.

This part of Kate’s story is similar to the origin story of Vegetarian Zen

When Larissa and I became Vegetarians in 2013, we were joining groups, listening to podcasts, and following fellow vegetarians and vegans to learn how to eliminate meat from our diets.  While we found many helpful resources, we also found some judgy and not-so-compassionate places. This is when we decided to create Vegetarian Zen, a peaceful place where all were welcome to learn more about the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle.

In this episode of The Vegetarian Zen podcast, we welcome Kate Galli, who shares her plant-based journey as a vegan coach and how she’s now focused on bringing more plant-positivity to the world.
